PRINCE Dube has taken little time to settle in at his Tanzanian club, with the Zimbabwean striker scoring his first goal, a brilliant first strike to guide his team to a 1-0 triumph over Kinondoni Municipal Council FC at the Azam Complex Stadium Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
The match, played under floodlights is one of the fixtures lined up for Azam as they build up to the start of the 2020/21 season on 7 September.
Dube, playing in his second competitive match for Azam scored in the 89th minute. The former Bosso striker started the move when he made a good run on the right side all the way from the centre, fed the ball to former FC Platinum man, Obrey Chirwa before the Zambian back heeled for Dube to fire past the KMC goalkeeper from close range. With fans allowed into stadiums in Tanzania, the goal was met with excitement from the Azam supporters.
While fellow Zimbabweans, Bruce Kangwa as well as Never Tigere were in the starting eleven, Dube was on the bench and was introduced in the 59th minute, the second time that he has come in as a substitute, the first being on Sunday.
Scoring his first goal must have endeared Dube with the Azam fans and also convinced coach, Aristica Cioaba that he was a worthy signing after recently completing his move from Highlanders. The goal was captured live on Azam, which is one of the benefits of moving to the Tanzanian club since footage of him scoring will get to be sent to overseas clubs interested in his services.
